The English writing assistant for people who think in Chinese.
Grammarly was made for native English writers. WriteNative is made for you: it explains every suggestion in Chinese, shows what each word means and how to say it, and turns what you write in Chinese into natural English, in any app on your Mac.
Explanations in Chinese, not just corrections
A red underline tells you something is wrong. It does not tell you why, and next week you make the same mistake. Click any WriteNative underline and the card explains the reason in Simplified or Traditional Chinese: a missing article, a tense that does not match, a word that is right in Chinese but wrong in English.
Each suggested word comes with its meaning in this sentence in Chinese ("received" → 收到了) and its pronunciation, so you learn the word while you fix it.
Write in Chinese, send English
Press ⌥ twice with nothing selected and write what you mean in Chinese. The English appears as you type, written the way a colleague would say it rather than word for word, and goes in at your cursor in Slack, Mail, Notion or the browser.
Built for mixed Chinese and English
Real messages mix both: a Chinese sentence with an English product name, an English email with a Chinese address. In our side-by-side test with Grammarly in October 2026, WriteNative caught 4 of 5 mistakes in Chinese and mixed text where Grammarly caught 2, including half-width commas in Chinese sentences that Grammarly missed.

Where it works
Mail, Messages, Notes, Slack, Notion, text boxes in Chrome and most other apps with a text field. WeChat, QQ and WeCom are deliberately left untouched: they react badly to other apps reading or typing into them.
Questions
- Is there a Chinese version of Grammarly?
- Grammarly now gives suggestions for Chinese text, but its explanations stay in English. WriteNative explains English suggestions in Chinese and translates what you write in Chinese into English.
- Is the app itself in Chinese?
- Yes. The Mac app and this website are in Simplified and Traditional Chinese, along with seven other languages.
- Does it work in mainland China?
- The app and the free features work anywhere. Cloud features need a connection to our servers on Cloudflare; the On-device plan works without one.
- Can I pay without a foreign card?
- Payment is by Visa or Mastercard through our payment provider; dual-currency Chinese cards work. Alipay, WeChat Pay and UnionPay-only cards are not supported yet.
