From correct English to English that sounds like you meant it.
A sentence can pass every grammar check and still read stiff, too direct or translated. WriteNative rewrites what you select into natural English in the tone you pick, inside the app you are writing in, and tells you in your language why it reads better.
Why correct English can still sound wrong
Word-for-word habits from another language survive a grammar check: "Please kindly check the attached file" is correct, and no native speaker writes it. "We will discuss about it" has one wrong word, but "I have a question about this point" is fine and still sounds translated next to "Quick question about this."
Natural English depends on the place: a Slack message, a client email and a LinkedIn post want different words for the same idea.
Rewrite in the tone you need
Select the text and press ⌥ twice. The rewrite panel opens next to it:
- Improve fixes and smooths it; Rephrase says it another way.
- Tone: Formal, Casual, Friendly, Confident, Shorter, Clearer.
- Options for the place: Polite no and Gentle nudge in Mail, Outlook and Slack; Support reply in help desks; LinkedIn post on LinkedIn.
- Ask AI… for your own instruction, such as "less salesy".
Learn while you write
Mistakes are underlined as you type, and the card explains each one in your first language, with the meaning and pronunciation of the suggested words.
Where it works, and where it does not
Mail, Outlook, Slack, Notion, Messages, text boxes in the browser and most Mac apps. It is a Mac app only: no Windows, no phone, and not inside Google Docs.
Questions
- How can I make my English writing sound more natural, not just correct?
- Rewrite with the place and tone in mind, and drop word-for-word habits from your first language. WriteNative, a Mac app, rewrites a selected sentence into natural English in a tone you pick (formal, friendly, shorter and more) right in the app you are writing in, and explains mistakes in your language.
- Is this a paraphrasing tool?
- It can paraphrase (Rephrase), but the point is tone and naturalness for the message you are writing, without copying text to a website and back.
- Will it change names, numbers or product terms?
- No. Names, product names, numbers and links are kept as you wrote them.
- Does it work offline?
- With the On-device plan, rewrites run on your Mac with a downloaded model and nothing is sent. Otherwise they use the cloud, and nothing is kept or used for training.
